RANCHO CORDOVA, CA.—MARCH 10—Rancho Cordova Travel & Tourism (RCTT) today announced its support for discussions currently underway that could locate California Northstate University’s planned teaching hospital in the City of Rancho Cordova.
“Bringing a teaching hospital to Rancho Cordova would represent a major milestone in our continuing development as a dynamic and diverse economic center,” said Marc Sapoznik, RCTT’s Executive Director. “A teaching hospital will provide vital healthcare services to our community while creating good jobs, attracting top medical professionals to the area, spurring new business activity, and making Rancho Cordova an even more attractive destination. The hospital will also positively impact stays at city hotels.”
The City of Rancho Cordova and CNU are in beginning discussions that could relocate the planned teaching hospital from a site in Elk Grove. If completed, the agreement would bring a major economic driver to the city.
World-class teaching hospitals bring a significant amount of economic impact to the city. In Rochester, Minnesota, for example, over 70-percent of hotel room nights are driven by The Mayo Clinic. In pre-pandemic times, people travel from all over the world for care at The Mayo Clinic and other top-tier medical institutions.
