Evan Kahn has been recognized as “a cellist deserved of serious listening,” captivating audiences with his colorful and dynamic interpretations. He has commissioned and premiered over 60 works, including his father's Cello Concerto, and has collaborated with numerous orchestras and ensembles. As the principal cellist for the San Francisco Opera and New Century Chamber Orchestra, as well as Opera San Jose and the San Jose Chamber Orchestra, Kahn is dedicated to his craft.
His impressive resume includes performances with the San Francisco Symphony, Cleveland Orchestra, and Los Angeles Opera. In addition to his orchestral work, Kahn served as Artist-in-Residence with NPR's Performance Today in 2018 and was named Musical America’s New Artist of the Month in February 2019. He also plays with several Bay Area ensembles, including Ninth Planet, After Everything, and the Wave Chamber Music Collective.
Evan Kahn holds a Master’s degree in Chamber Music from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where he studied with Jennifer Culp, and graduated with honors from Carnegie Mellon University under the tutelage of David Premo.
